If you have been reading this long, you will learn something, I like routine. I actually thrive on routine. Well, this week my wife has had to be out of town for work since Monday afternoon, and my routine has gotten more and more out of whack as the days go by. Today, everything fell apart.
I could not work out before work this morning as I had no one to watch my children when I went, and taking them and listening to my daughter’s running commentary about what I am doing would have been too much. On top of that, I had one of those mornings where I kept hitting snooze and managed to wake up with only 15 minutes to get my kids off to VBS and myself off to work.
I made it to work, but ran out of the house so quick
all I had to grab was my water. By 10:00
I was hungry, and by 11:00 I was really hungry.
When I returned home, I had to make lunch for 5 kids, (mine plus 3 more)
and I finally sat down to my breakfast bowl of Total to eat around 1:30.
From there, I had to pack up all 5 kids and take
them to work with me. Besides teaching I
also manage a small radio station. I got
all 5 kids working on Summer School Work (My kids didn’t need summer school as
they are both a year ahead in their work, but it keeps them busy in times like
this.) For about 3 hours we all worked
then it was time to pack everybody back up and head home.
At about 4:30 I was thinking things would get back
to normal. I planned to eat lunch, and
then after the other kids went home I was going to drop mine off with their
grandparents and go work out about 6:00.
Well, as I sat down to eat my leftover pork shop, a friend of mine
called and needed help moving a bed.
Well, you have to be there to help friends so I headed off at 6:00 to go
do that. The bed of course (someone gave
it to him if he moved it) was in an attic at the end of a narrow hallway, and
down a thin flight of stairs. It took us
well over an hour to dissemble in it and get it into the trailer. By the time I
got home it was nearing 8:00. I fed the
kids a snack, and dropped them off with their grandparents and finally hit the
gym.
Doing an 8:00 pm workout is very different then
doing an 8:00 am workout. For starters,
the gym was a sauna; with temperatures inside sitting at least 10 degrees
higher then temperatures outside. (And
it was a warm day). I was also already
tired and sore before the workout ever began.
However despite the drawbacks I pushed on and made it through Sweat 1-2 (35 minutes of Cardio) and Ab Ripper 100 (which I could really
feel afterwards.)
About 9:00 I finally picked up my kids, and knew I
was too tired to cook, so it was off to Subway.
They have spinach on the menu this month combined with my new love of
black olives I was able to eat a pretty healthy sub (even if I should have only
had a 6 inch instead of a foot long).
Here’s a complete look at my food diary for the day. Things are in weird places (Like my protein
that I didn’t have until 8:45) but its all there.
Post Workout:
Protein Drink (1 scoop protein powder, 8 oz skim milk) (220 Calories)
Breakfast: Total Raisin Bran (1 cup cereal, 1 cup skim milk) (246 Calories)
Lunch: Boneless thick center cut porkchop
8 oz. Low Fat Cottage Cheese (410 Calories)
Afternoon Snack: 1 slice Provolone Cheese (70 Calories)
Dinner: Subway - Oven
Roasted Chicken Breast Sandwich on Wheat Bread With Light Mayo and Provolone, Spinach,
Olives 12 inch (830 Calories)
Evening Snack: Subway -
Vanilla Lowfat Yogurt Parfait, With Fruit and Granola, (160 Calories)
Total
count for day is 1946 calories which is higher than I have been, but still lower
then I should be (which may account for this week’s weight loss struggles). But to wrap it up at 10:00 I started blogging
as well as cleaning the house for the day and by 1:00 am I finally rolled into
bed. What a crazy day. I can only hope tomorrow is back on
routine.
