Power 90 Day 17 – A Happy Anniversary

Well today, Wednesday the 20th, is my anniversary.  My wife and I have been together 14 years and we will be going out later to celebrate.  But despite what later would bring, I still needed to get my workout in this morning, so I was up at 6:30 in the morning once again to head down to the gym and hit the weights with Sculpt 1-2.

I couldn’t do what I was able to on Monday, not sure if it was fatigue, with the lack of sleep I’d had or perhaps it’s because I’ve been raising the bar on all my workouts and my body is just sore, so I finished with around an average of 12 reps on a lot of the exercises.  I do continue to improve on pushups though, which is the one thing I feel I can hang my hat on after this workout.

After my workout, I again spent the day playing chauffer driving kids to basketball and cheerleading practice.  My son had his last day at basketball camp.  It’s great to see him so competitive on that basketball court.  He is shaping up to be a far better ball player then I ever was.

After the final pick up, it was time to drop the kids off and take my lovely wife out.  Because of work and additional camps in the morning it was just for an evening, but an evening out is nice.  And we don’t get a chance to get out very often.  We went to Olivia’s Chop House, which is arguably the nicest restaurant in Hillsdale County.  And although I freed myself up by not worrying about a calorie count, I did try to make better decisions.

We started the meal with the Ahi Tuna, quickly seared on the outside and raw on the inside -- one of my favorites.  Usually we would have gone with the fried calamari (deep fried squid) so a better first choice.  I then chose a side salad, instead of the creamy BLT soup before the meal came.  For that, I would usually order a pasta & seafood alfredo or a big steak and baked potato with all the toppings.  Instead I went with roasted duck with rice pilaf and roast vegetables.  On top of that I went with water instead of my usual 12 glasses of diet pop.

We went to a movie later and I did without the usual popcorn and candy as well, so some of the lifestyle changes are taking hold, I hope.  All in all it was a great evening.

Well as I said I have no food journal for you today, so I guess that’s about it… I realize I am a few days behind in my posting, but I will be attempting to catch up this weekend.
