Power 90 Day 7 - A Day of Rest

I have been looking forward to this day since Wednesday when I really wanted to trade workout days.  The Power 90 recommends a rest day at day 6 or 7 every week.    So although Saturday was the original Sabbath, Sunday is an easier day for me to use as a day of rest.  So Sunday it was.  Today was my first rest day since starting Power 90 and as I sit here writing this tonight, it is the first day since last Sunday that my muscles aren’t sore and cramping.

I did want to take the opportunity as a rest day to share with you where my weight is at.  I didn’t want to do my official weigh in day on the day after my workout, so although this will only be a 6 day week, I wanted to give you the rundown.

When I started Monday morning my weight was 312.8.

Day 2                     308.6

Day 3                     307.0

Day 4                     305.6

Day 5                     304.2

Day 6                     305.4

This Sunday morning when I stepped on the scale my weight was 303.8

This gives me a week 1 loss of 9 pounds.  I have been losing weight off and on for a long time, but at no time have I ever lost 9 pounds in one week.  My goal for this summer has been 50 pounds.  It’s not that 50 pounds leaves me anywhere special, but just a number on the 100+ pounds I will need to lose to hit recommended weight.

I will say although I know far from everything there is to know, I do know that a daily weigh in is not the best way to do things.  Your weight can go up and down for any number of reasons, even a weekly weigh in isn’t great, but I need it for motivation.  The reason I use a daily weigh in is all about keeping myself honest.  I have found when I don’t use daily weigh in its too easy to cheat and just not to weigh yourself in the next day.

As far as the rest of the day went, I did have a full day.  I went to church in the morning, and in the afternoon we had Emmy’s gymnastics recital.  My daughter made me so proud; I will never understand how she became so flexible and athletic.  She flies around the stage doing flips and cartwheels, all with a full ear to ear stage smile.

After the recital, I was given my big challenge for the day.   (Sometimes my life is far too much like the Biggest Loser; all I need is Jillian yelling at me) It was about 6:00 when we left the recital and still hadn’t eaten dinner.  So I offered to take my daughter out. I was hoping for a Subway, or maybe even a Wendy’s (where you can now get a baked sweet potato.)  But all she wanted was Burger King.  Now Burger King has been one of my favorites to eat for years, but quad stackers, and double Whoppers with cheese with large Onion Rings do not go hand in hand with healthy eating.  Well if you’re wondering I feel I passed this challenge, with a grilled chicken sandwich, (no mayo) and a med mango smoothie.  Calorie count was 690, which is big, but I still stayed under 1800 for the day, so I am happy.

Anyway I think I’ll call in a night.  I feel day 7 was a success even without a workout, and 303.8 is such a huge number for me, as its where I got to last time before stopping.  It is officially the smallest I have been in about 8 years.  Tomorrow, when I write I may be at a new low, and look forward to it... Till then.
