Today was a good day. Not necessarily a best day ever kind of day,
but definitely a good day. For starters, I had the opportunity to sleep
in. After Jen was gone for a week, I hadn’t
slept in for a while, but today I slept in until after 10:30. Sure the gym was a furnace when I finally got
started but it was well worth it. I also
finally got the scale moving again, which it’s been a discouraging week on the
scales (I’ll share more tomorrow).
As far as the ultra warm workout went, it was a
great one. I was a little worried as I’d
been having a little lower back pain as well as my right knee. But after stretching I felt just fine and was
able to push myself more then I had before.
It amazes me to see the progress as I am able to push farther and
farther with non modified exercises. I
even pushed through 80 crunches in the Ab Ripper and lived to tell about
it.
When I returned home, my family was heading out to
do some Father’s Day shopping, which allowed me to watch some Star Trek Voyager
and eat some cold pizza which is one of my favorites. When they got home, Emmy headed over to see
her grandparents and Jen needed a nap, which allowed Connor and I to fire up
the PS3 and have an afternoon of video games.
(Yes there were things I should be doing but every once in awhile you
need a day of rest.)
Around 6:00 I headed off for a movie night and was pleasantly
surprised with Battle Ship. It could be
that I expected so little that it didn’t have much to live up to, but I thought
it was a fun movie, with a nice salute to Veterans. I did find it distracting as they had several
actors from Friday Night Lights, so I kept waiting for the football game to
start, but it had a classic story line a few exciting moments and a lot of
things blowing up. Although I have no
idea what a fight to save earth against an alien horde has to do with the game
Battleship.
As far as my eating went today, I was back to a
lower calorie count, although with food including pizza and popcorn, I didn’t want
to push it. Here is a look at my food
Journal for Saturday June 16th.
Post Workout: Protein Drink (1 scoop protein powder, 8 oz
skim milk ) (220 Calories)
Breakfast: Mandarin Oranges
with Fat Free Cool Whip (480 Calories)
Lunch: 2 Slices Pizza, (Pizza – Chicken,
Mushrooms, Olives, Green Onions) (560
Calories)
Afternoon Snack: Popcorn (220 Calories)
Dinner: Omelet (3 medium eggs, mock crab,
portabella mushroom, ¼ cup shredded cheese) (519 Calories)
Evening Snack: Banana (105 Calories)
That’s about it.
Had a great day today looking forward to another great one
tomorrow. My wife and kids are even
cooking me a healthy lunch as the whole family is behind me in this
challenge. I’ll tell you about it
tomorrow, along with a look at this week’s pathetic weight loss. Until then…
