Let me be the first to tell you, back to back workouts
are hard. I had worked out last night
from 8:00 – 9:00 pm then up this morning for an 8:00 – 9:00 am workout. My muscles were still sore, and my abs were
still shaking from the night before, but I pushed through the pain, and even
did a new push up high of 17 (That’s over three separate sets, still pretty
huge for me). I also made the mistake of
doing the workout with music, which wasn’t good. I guess it could be worse but I’ll continue
to do the workouts without music in the future.
After workouts there was no time for a nap today as
it was the last day festivities for my kids VBS (Vacation Bible School if you’re
not familiar). This also posed a problem
as festivities include lunch, and every VBS lunch seems to consist of Hot Dogs,
Chips, and Cookies, along with gallons and gallons of red punch. Well none of those are on my new way of
eating, but with Jen out of town I can’t really skip out on my kids. So down I went. In the end, I went with a single grilled hot
dog, and a black coffee. Not a healthy
use of calories but not going to kill me in the end, and I was able to pass up
the cookies, the chips, and the classic church red punch.
After VBS, it was time to get the house ready for my
wife to get home. It’s sad as I spent
several hours cleaning and trying to get things ready, but it still didn’t look
as nice as when she left. Jen got home about
5:30 and it was a celebration in my house.
By the time we got unpacked and ready for dinner it was again getting
late so we ordered pizza. Normally, I am a deep dish Meat Lovers guy and
about 5 slices. However I read in the
Power 90 menu book, that when faced with meal options like that to just eat
half of what you normally would (I rounded down). I also continued my new quest to eat more
vegetables. Instead of ham, bacon, pepperoni,
and sausage I ordered my pizza with grilled chicken, mushrooms, black olives,
and green peppers. All in all, a little
over 500 calories as far as I can figure.
Here’s a look at my entire food day:
Post Workout: Protein Drink (1 scoop protein powder, 8 oz
skim milk ) (220 Calories)
Breakfast: 3 medium eggs scrambled (180 Calories)
Lunch: Hot Dog in Bun (297 Calories)
Afternoon Snack: Mandarin Oranges with Fat Free
Cool Whip, slice Provolone Cheese (165
Calories)
Dinner: 2 Slices Pizza, Weight Watchers
Ice Cream Bar (Pizza – Chicken, Mushrooms, Olives, Green Onions) (650 Calories)
Evening Snack: Peanut Butter Toast, Activia
Yogurt (340 Calories)
Well that’s
about it, tomorrow will hopefully get things back to normal. I do need to pick up some more salad
though. And you may be wondering about
the title of this post. When I wrote it
I was watching Pete’s Dragon and playing a game of Risk with my family; it did
seem like a razzle dazzle day. By the way,
Pete’s Dragon: a great movie… 2 thumbs up!
Till tomorrow…
