Power 90 Day 5, The Best Laid Plans!

When I went to bed Thursday Night, I knew just how Friday was going to go.  I would be up at 7:30, Power 90 Sculpt 1-2 done by 8:30, showered and ready to go by 9:30 then packing some healthy lunches and off to Sauders Village by 10:30.  If you’re not familiar with Sauders Village, it’s a historic village, with lots of craftsmen doing a number of different things.  One of my family’s favorite places to visit on a lazy Friday afternoon.  They have a great restaurant called The Barn as well, but I was going to pack a healthy lunch and leave early for dinner back at home.

Well that’s what I planned, but in the middle of the night my son woke up with an asthma attack, and by morning my wife was feeling sick with an upset stomach.  So Sauders was out of the question.  I did make it over to work out by 9:00 and had what must have been a great workout because I was exhausted afterwards.  By the time I returned home my arms were on fire.  I tried to sit and type this at that time but my arms were so sore I couldn’t and I ended up falling asleep.  At noon I woke up my arms felt better and I decided to eat breakfast and go into work.  (Yes, I have now slept my morning away and eaten breakfast at noon, today just was not normal)

When I got home my wife still wasn’t feeling well, so I decided to take my kids to Madagascar 3.  Now for me this is risky, because I like popcorn.  I am that guy who usually gets the Large Bucket of popcorn extra butter and refill it at least once during the movie; all with a X-large diet pop so I can keep it healthy.  Lucky for me my hometown theater offers a small popcorn popped in sunflower oil, only 100 calories.  So I was able to enjoy a little popcorn, without blowing my eating.  And I was still well within my calories for the day.
When I returned home I was getting hungry and was ready to cook an awesome dinner, but I had a message waiting for me that my brother-in-law wanted to get together to see a movie.  It sounded like fun so I made a sandwich and hit the road.  Well I was done with my popcorn for the day and this theater had no healthy alternative anyway, so I loaded up on sugar free gum and enjoyed the show.

I was really doing ok until the late night drive back home.  Historically, I always would have stopped for food, loaded up on Taco Bell, or Tim Horton’s to make the drive home easier.  Well by the time the movie was ending I was already thinking about my Taco Bell trip.  And although I talked myself out of it, I did find myself sitting in the Tim Horton’s parking lot I tried to convince myself that just a few Tim bits, with a small cappuccino would be ok.  Well I must have argued back and forth with myself for 5 minutes before pulling back out of the parking lot and heading home empty handed.

That being said, writing this blog makes me sound crazy with all the arguing with myself.  Perhaps Tim Loses It is an appropriate title for it.  Hopefully this is something many of you do, and I am not officially crazy.   Crazy or not though, I made it home and didn’t fall into temptation today despite the day going nothing like I planned.  Here’s a look at today’s menu.  Not that exciting but it did the trick.

Post Workout:  Protein Drink (1 scoop protein 8 ounces skim milk)   (220 Calories)

Breakfast:  Breakfast Wrap (2 large eggs scrambled, 2 ounces deli ham, 1/4 cup shredded                 cheddar cheese, 1 Whole Wheat Tortilla (550 Calories)

Afternoon Snack: Small Popcorn (100 Calories)

Dinner:  Turkey and Cheese Sandwich, banana (2 slices whole wheat bread, 2 ounces deli         turkey breast, 1 slice Colby cheese.) (425 Calories)

Well, that’s been my day.  I was going to review the movies for you, but I am far too tired and need to head to bed.  Perhaps tomorrow will go as planned and I’ll tell you then.  Day 5; check...

  1. You're doing great!!! Trust me, I argue with myself every day about making the right decisions - nothing wrong with that! :)

  2. Great job, Tim! You're not alone in playing food games, anyone who as a weight problem does it too. The sad thing is, our only real opponent is our own mind, for that is where the battle takes place. Keep up the excellent work! Love you....
